Working Principle
1. Signal Acquisition
The module receives external analog signals through 16 input channels, supporting the following signal types:
- Voltage Signals: Unipolar/Bipolar Voltage (up to ±10V)
- Current Signals: 4-20mA Current Loop (requires external circuit support)
These signals typically originate from industrial sensors such as temperature transmitters, pressure transducers, and level gauges, reflecting continuous changes in physical quantities (e.g., temperature, pressure, flow rate).
2. Signal Conditioning
- Filtering: Each channel features a built-in low-pass filter (cutoff frequency: 100 radians/second, approx. 0.01 seconds) to suppress high-frequency noise (e.g., electromagnetic interference) and ensure signal stability.
- Electrical Protection: Input channels are protected against transient and steady-state overvoltage conditions to prevent module damage.
3. A/D Conversion (Analog-to-Digital Conversion)
The conditioned analog signals are processed by a 14-bit resolution A/D converter, which transforms continuous analog values (e.g., voltage) into discrete digital data. Resolution can be further enhanced via oversampling and averaging techniques, achieving a minimum resolution of 1/16384.
4. Data Transmission & Processing
Digital data is stored in two’s complement format (sign + 15 bits), with each channel occupying 16-bit memory (%AI address). The data is transmitted to the PLC controller via communication interfaces (e.g., backplane bus). The PLC processes these values through predefined algorithms for monitoring, logical operations, and feedback control of industrial processes.
5. Auxiliary Functions
- Auto-Calibration: The module continuously self-calibrates zero and full-scale values, eliminating the need for manual calibration and reducing maintenance costs.
- Expansion Capability: Works in conjunction with a base converter module (e.g., IC697ALG230) and supports up to 7 daisy-chained modules, expanding total input channels to 120 for large-scale applications.
